Weekly Box Subscription FAQs

How does the subscription work?

Sign up at the beginning of the season and pick up a box of vegetables every Wednesday evening. If you are familiar with traditional CSA (or Community Supported Agriculture) programs, this is the Westcott Vegetable Club version. You pay up front and get a box of pre-determined $25 value every Wednesday from July through September.

What are the dates?

The subscription will run from Wednesday, July 1 through Wednesday, September 30, for a total of 14 weeks. 

So I don't get to choose what I get? What if I don't like something?

This is like a traditional CSA program where the farmer chooses what goes in the box. It does require some open-mindedness about experimenting with foods you might be unfamiliar with or don't prefer!

If you would rather place customer orders weekly, our normal neighborhood delivery program offers that option. 

Will I know what's in my box ahead of time?

We will do our best to email members on Monday with information about what will be in the boxes on Wednesday.

What if I miss the pickup?

Boxes will be left by the garage door at 205 Houston Ave for 24 hours after pickup in as much shade as possible. If we have not heard from you within that time, produce will be donated. We do not have refrigeration on site and are unable to keep boxes chilled. Our weekly harvest routine does not permit replacement of forgotten boxes. 

What if I'm on vacation or can't pick up a box?

You may skip one delivery per season in exchange for $25 in store credit. We need to receive notice by email a minimum of one week in advance in order to process the skip. 

If you cannot pick up your box on multiple weeks, you can ask a friend to pick it up, gift it to someone, or we would be happy to donate it.

What if I join and don't like it? Can I get a refund?

When you join, we begin paying out of pocket for the labor, seeds, fertilizers, etc. that are required to grow the food for your share. If you change your mind halfway through the season, most of your food is already in production. For this reason, cancellations and refunds are generally not possible.

Standalone farmer's choice boxes will be available every week of the Westcott Vegetable Club season. If you're on the fence about the subscription, it might be best to purchase week-by-week for now. 

In respect to special circumstances, we may be able to make accommodations. Please reach out to us if you need to talk about a cancellation. 

Where does the produce come from?

The majority of the produce is from our farm in Cato. Select items will be sourced from other local farms within our network of producers. 

Is this the only way to get vegetables from the Vegetable Club?

No! Our standard neighborhood program allows week-by-week, custom order sales and is available to anyone at any time. If you would prefer this option, simply sign up for emails/texts and plan to place your order from Friday - Monday throughout the growing season.
