Produce to the People

Our farm is part of a diverse coalition of nonprofits, social service organizations, and other community advocates working to increase the availability of fresh produce distributed through emergency food systems channels in Syracuse. We work hand-in-hand with these partners to create and fundraise for programs that (1) provide free access to fresh, nutritious foods and (2) provide fair compensation for farmers.

In 2025, these partnerships represented almost 40% of our total sales, or nearly $7,000, exceeding the value of produce sold to the neighborhood through the Vegetable Club. As well as contributing to community well-being, this work is integral to the viability of our neighborhood sales program. The customer flexibility and retail-like experience is only possible because our emergency food system partners offer an important secondary market for our produce. Another benefit: These two symbiotic sales channels are so complementary as to virtually eliminate food waste from our system. In 2025, literally zero produce grown on our farm or purchased from other farms in our network went unsold.

In 2026 we are under MOU agreements supplying at least $17,000 worth of product for food-security initiatives led by Brady Farm, Syracuse Community Fridge, and the Interfaith Community Collective. These are multi-stakeholder partnerships that also include significant energy from All Saints Churchand the Onondaga Food Rescue Network.

We are grateful to emergency food system leaders who continue to advocate that local farm viability is a key component of holistic community health. We are committed to building a future in Syracuse where every person has dignified access to healthy food.
